At the centre of the night are Petunia & The Vipers, one of Canada’s most distinctive roots bands.
Led by the wonderfully unclassifiable singer, songwriter and yodeller Petunia, the Vipers draw from hillbilly music, western swing, early jazz, rockabilly and country blues–then twist it all into something unmistakably their own. With a band of extraordinary veteran players, their concerts move easily from haunting ballads to feverish, dance-floor-ready swing. Victoria’s Slim Sandy and Willa Mae bring deep roots and irresistible rhythm to the evening.
