BIG MACHINE BIG MACHINE is a five-piece band from British Columbia that brings together psychedelic rock, contemporary songwriting, free improvisation, country and gospel influences, and the deep roots of American folk and Appalachian music. Drawing on these traditions without being bound by them, the band has developed a sound that is expansive, electric, and difficult to categorize.

Featuring Oliver Swain, Glenna Garramone, Tyler Lieb, Ashley Wey, and Alex Campbell, BIG MACHINE draws on decades of collective experience across folk, roots, jazz, rock, and experimental music. Two-time Western Canadian Music Award winner and Juno nominee Oliver Swain’s musical language was shaped in part by years spent travelling through the American South and Appalachia, seeking out the roots of American music firsthand, and later touring internationally with some of the most celebrated roots bands of their generation, including The Duhks, The Bills, Outlaw Social, and The Red Stick Ramblers.
